Amar Ramesh is a visionary photographer, filmmaker, and entrepreneur whose work fuses India’s living heritage with contemporary visual language. After leaving a thriving technology career in the United States to document South Indian temples, he swiftly emerged, “by the universe’s design,” as he says, as one of the country’s most influential imagemakers. Through his flagship company Studio A, Amar has spent fourteen years crafting more than 750 weddings across twenty-two countries, earning a coveted Fearless Photographers Award and WPPI Award for his narrative-driven style that turns personal celebrations into cinematic archives of emotion and ritual.

Beyond weddings, Amar steers Big Short Films, a documentary vertical credited with re-energising traditional handicrafts, most notably the Bhavani Jamakkalam, and producing nearly sixty corporate and social shorts that illuminate brand legacies and grassroots change. His cultural storytelling for Tamil Nadu Tourism and numerous NGOs garnered the YES Bank Changemaker Award, recognising the social impact of his lens in preserving architecture, craft, and community traditions.

I have authored and photographed a series of books including Stones & Stories, Mogappu:Portals of Chettinad, Pudhu Mandapam, Madras Margazhi, 50 Inspiring Women( gujrat, hyderabad, telengana), Kollikannu – Drishti paintings of Tamilnadu, Aranga, an ode to performing arts, artists, and space. Onboarding a documentation of the Jamakkalam craftmanship, and a comprehensive record of 100 temples of Tamil Nadu. These publications and projects combine research with visual storytelling to create enduring cultural records.
