I’m back in Chennai after a fun filled wedding shoot in Dindigul this weekend. Vidhya and Arun both hailing from the Saiva Pillai community of Dindigul came together to have a beautiful wedding following most of the rituals which are unique to pillai type weddings. A couple of weeks back I posted there in engagement shots FB and was waiting to snap their wedding pictures. One of the most important aspects of photographing an Indian wedding is that I get to see first hand, the different rituals being performed. They vary depending on the caste and community the bride and groom belong to. Both the wedding and the reception was held at PSNA Kalyana mandapam. The Mehendi function took place at bride’s house. Its nice to note how Mehendi night which is purely a north indian ritual is becoming a part of every Indian wedding.
With so many good pictures, it was really hard to decide which ones to upload first. I think I should do a 3 or 4 part series of posts with different pictures each time. Also, when one thinks about Dinidigul, the first thing that comes into the mind is the Briyani and the next thing is the Malaikottai atop a hill in the center of the town. I got to enjoy both these when I was there. I have a separate post coming up about the Malaikottai.
