To witness the finesse of art is a tasty treat to our eyes anytime anywhere, And when it is our very own Bharatanatyam on a global stage, it is as good as it gets and even better. It was wonderful to experience the prevalence of Indian dance in a foreign country, Sumani’s Arangetram was all set as the grandeur of the venue warmly welcomed us to an exquisite cultural ambiance with a palatial stage oozing with life. One could grasp the effort and sincerity in the arrangements that Sumani’s Mom had put in. She is a good friend to me, and to see her pay attention to every single detail from the little properties to the world-class stage was inspiring. Everything fell in place as the red curtains raised and the Arangetram began in flying colors. To me and the prowess of my lens, it was a big jump just out of the wedding scene to be shooting this happening event blending East and West. The challenge was to stay invisible and not disturb the experience in anyway, and also to come out with different perspectives in the pictures. To watch her teacher, Radhika Unnithan, motivating her all through demonstrated how intense and meticulous the preparation coming up this day must’ve been at Nrityam. It was exciting to see girls at such young age committed to art and perform it on the stage so professionally. The 2-hour journey through the soul for sure touched everyone with its vibe. Here is a glimpse of it. Take a stroll, feel and cherish the jubilance!
