“Friends and Cousins” – that’s one word we tend to remember when we think of Sathish & Deepika’s wedding celebrations (actually two but then they are so much one. You get the idea, don’t you?). All through the events, it was them who took care of the little details so carefully, made sure the flow was seamless and lit the occasion with joy. Having shot their engagement earlier, we knew them as two loving caring & individuals getting ready to take a leap of faith, in love. We were excited to shoot their big day. Pandhakaal – Nalangu – Mehendi/Sangeet – Haldi – Reception – Wedding: that’s a long list of events on the cards and we had an extra pair of memory cards in our bag, just in case.
Their entire wedding and our shooting experience can be rooted to one interesting story that happened in the beginning. It pretty much sums it all. Lakshman, one of the photographers who captured their memories says it in his own words – “It was 5.00 AM in the morning, the rooster on the road was still sleeping. We were asked to come in early to shoot the Pandhakaal ritual. I reached on time. I was invited in by the Bride’s brother and shown my seat in the waiting hall. Seeing around, I figured out the preparations were going to take time. I broke my anxiety with a yawn, and then, the bride’s mother stepped in with a warm coffee and a warmer smile. The bride’s brother joined in too and enquired my wellness. God, I loved the coffee. I took sips and listened to them as they conversed about the mood that prevailed in their family, the rituals in place and how happy they were to have us to shoot them all. Slowly, with every sip, and every word, a shine of verve dawned into me. It was an enlightened feel that only genuine care and hospitality (and of course, coffee) can bring on you. There, right there I was wired into this wedding. We had a great deal of understanding, their family and our team. In the end, we felt like family. What can I say? A lot can happen over a cup of coffee!”
Now that’s quite the way to start a shoot. We relished the experience. In fact, when you look through the pictures, you can feel the warm vibe for yourself. Blessed be the family, blessed be the couple. Take a look at their wedding blog and share the vibe.
