As a wedding photographer who is always on the toes to catch the right moments in the ceremony and look out for those magical moments between the couple, Arangetrams are a welcome wave of retreat. Not that I don’t love the chaos in the weddings, but the space and the time that an Arangetram provides is quite a luxury. The audience is seated and there is no hustle anywhere inside the hall. Just the dancer and the music taking the center space, as the photographer I get to be all around the place. We have done Arangetrams across the world in places like the United States, United Kingdom, etc. This time it was in Malaysia for the young and talented Akshara. It was a dazzling venue and Akshara was the star of the evening. It was exciting to photograph art in motion and try out different perspectives. One biggest takeaway when shooting the Arangetram was to witnessed the finesse and the perfection in every move, realizing the fact that the performance is a result of sincere commitment and dedication over the years. It is encouraging to see how the Indian communities abroad take art so seriously and foster their children to pursue their dreams in it. Indeed a proud moment form Akshara’s parents as they watched it with awe and later joined her on the stage too. Looking forward to shooting many more Arangetram events ahead in India and overseas.
